Sexual Health

Aisling Sullivan, full time Area Youth and Community Learning worker at Streets Ahead has attended sexual health training. Streets Ahead is a C-card distribution point. A C-card enables young people to access advice on sexual health and condoms. To get a C-card people register with a trained sexual health worker and can then get condoms free from distribution centres around Gateshead.

The Garden

In 2004 work on the back garden at Streets Ahead begain in earnest. A team of young, local volunteers cleared the existing weeds and debris, rotivated the area and grassed it over.

This was a mammoth task.

Streets Ahead has been helped by Gateshead Council's Grants and Awards and BTCV (British Trust Conservation Volunteers) is also involved in the project.

Some willow work has also been done with the help of Junction Box.

In 2005, as the days lengthen, we hope to landscape the area and make it a truly educational as well as recreational experience.
