The Project is supported by Gateshead
Council through its Youth and
Community Learning Service, based
within the Learning and Culture
group.
The Project maintains an emphasis on
themes of work, which are designed to
address disaffection, particularly in
the area of Social Inclusion and
School non-attendance.
In addition to this the Project
delivers work, which brings added
value to statutory education and
detached youth work which engages
young people in activities which have
the demonstration of core skills as
central to personal and group
development. The Project is committed
to developing pieces of work, which
have aspects of numeracy and literacy
as central to them.
Underpinning everything the Project
has to offer is the idea learning can
be interesting, made different and can
be fun. We at Streets Ahead have not
lost the capacity to laugh at
ourselves, each other and the world in
general.
The information on this site gives
only a snap shot of types of projects
and styles of practice Streets Ahead
adopts.
